The National Men's XV have had a very successful autumn training series. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we have not been able to test ourselves in a Test match situation - but I am happy that we have made significant progress as a group, both on and off the field. This includes work on our playing philosophy, developing a depth of competition within the squad and beginning to put together our 'Leadership Group', which will be headed up by Captain Sami Paulson.

This Autumn, following a series of team 'Zoom' meetings and individual 1-1 meetings with players during the height of the restrictions, we were then able to run three camps, with themes based on attack, defence and transition rugby. During this time, we have been able to develop our style of play and playing principles, whilst we have also continued to develop the culture for the National side - driven by the playing group, who have been ambitious to learn and worked hard on and away from camp. The progress from start to finish has been phenomenal, and there is plenty more to come.

Throughout the winter we are looking forward to some 'remote' development, including further team meetings and 'virtual' camps, an S&C focus and continued individual development. This will hopefully lead into a series of camps throughout February, March and April ahead of Summer Test matches. Although we are still working in uncertain times regarding what we are able to do, we will continue to find ways to stay connected and work together to get better as a group and be a prepared as we can be for when Test match rugby returns.

For me, the winter period is also an important time to connect further with club coaches in Sweden to identify players who have the potential to play for Sweden, both now and in the future. I hope to continue the positive conversations I have had during the Autumn as well as going back over the recorded and streamed games from all over the country to support this.

It is an extremely exciting time for Sweden Rugby and I am confident we are producing a National Team that will inspire local communities and clubs on a national level.

Tack //Alex
